Maphumulo born Welile Pearl Luthuli, who is currently studying Law at the University of South Africa, has a passionate interest in economic and rural development.

Welile, a first-generation crop farmer, heads up Azowel Projects, a youth and women empowering enterprise that focuses on developing unused greenhouses in the iLembe region to create revenue, minimize poverty and the unemployment rate in the region. The aim is to establish intensive, greenhouse farming, producing high-quality produce for the local and international market, through productive local teams.

Other revenue opportunities envisaged include services such as research, biotechnology, packaging and distribution.
